Care Guide
Welcome to Brand Z ! We understand your passion for yoga and active living, and we're committed to providing you with high-quality, high-performance apparel. To ensure your garments last longer and perform at their best, please read our care guide carefully.
Proper washing and maintenance will not only extend the life of your apparel but also preserve its functionality (such as moisture-wicking, elasticity) and aesthetic appeal.
I. General Care Principles
Regardless of the fabric, these general principles will help you care for your activewear:
-
Wash Promptly: Please wash your activewear as soon as possible after your workout. Avoiding leaving sweaty clothes for too long prevents odors, bacterial growth, and fabric damage.
-
Sort by Color & Type: Separate dark-colored clothes from light-colored ones to prevent dye transfer. Also, wash activewear separately from items with zippers, Velcro, or abrasive textures that could snag or damage the fabric.
-
Turn Inside Out: Always turn garments inside out before washing. This helps protect the outer surface and any prints or logos.
-
Avoid Soaking: Do not soak activewear for extended periods, especially items with padding or special coatings.
-
Gentle Washing: Opt for gentle washing methods and mild detergents.
-
Air Dry Naturally: Lay flat or hang to dry. Avoid direct sunlight and high-heat machine drying.
II. Washing Instructions
Here are detailed guidelines for different washing methods:
A. Machine Wash (For garments recommended for machine washing)
-
Use Cold Water: Please use cold water (below 30°C/86°F) for washing. Hot water can cause fabric shrinkage, fading, or damage to elastic fibers.
-
Select Gentle Cycle: Use your washing machine's "Activewear," "Delicate," or "Hand Wash" cycle.
-
Use a Laundry Bag: We recommend placing sports bras, yoga leggings, and items with delicate details in a mesh laundry bag to protect their shape and reduce wear and tear.
-
Mild Detergent Only: Use a small amount of mild, liquid, pH-neutral detergent. Avoid detergents containing bleach, fabric softeners, or harsh stain removers. Bleach damages fabric, and fabric softeners can clog the fabric's pores, impairing its moisture-wicking capabilities.
-
Rinse Thoroughly: Ensure garments are thoroughly rinsed to prevent detergent residue.
B. Hand Wash (For garments recommended for hand washing, or as a gentler option)
-
Cold Water & Detergent: Fill a basin with cold water and add a small amount of mild, liquid, pH-neutral detergent.
-
Gently Agitate: Submerge the garment and gently press and agitate it with your hands, especially focusing on any soiled areas.
-
Rinse Well: Rinse repeatedly with clean, cold water until the water runs clear and no detergent remains.
-
Gently Squeeze: Do not wring or twist the garment forcefully; simply gently squeeze out excess water.
III. Drying & Airing
-
DO NOT Tumble Dry: Most yoga and activewear items are not suitable for tumble drying. The high heat of a dryer can severely damage elastic fibers, causing the fabric to lose elasticity, shrink, deform, and potentially destroy moisture-wicking properties.
-
Lay Flat to Dry: For knitted or highly elastic garments (like yoga leggings), we recommend laying them flat on a clean towel to dry. This helps maintain the garment's shape.
-
Hang to Dry: For T-shirts, tanks, etc., hang them in a cool, well-ventilated area. Avoid using metal hangers, which can rust or leave marks.
-
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Do not expose garments to direct sunlight for extended periods, as UV rays can cause fabric fading and deterioration.
IV. Special Considerations
-
Sports Bras: Bra pads are often removable. Please remove them before washing and either hand wash them separately or place them in a laundry bag for machine washing. After washing, reinsert the pads and reshape them.
-
Leggings/Yoga Pants: High-stretch fabrics should avoid friction with rough surfaces to prevent pilling or snagging.
-
Garments with Zippers/Buttons: Fasten all zippers and buttons before washing to prevent damage to the garment or other items.
-
Prints/Logos: Washing inside out helps protect prints and logos on your apparel. Avoid ironing directly over printed areas.
-
Terry Cloth/Fleece Fabric: A small amount of lint may appear during the first wash, which is normal.
V. Storage Tips
-
Ensure Dryness: Make sure garments are completely dry before storing them to prevent mildew or odors.
-
Fold Neatly or Hang: Fold garments neatly or hang them in your wardrobe. Avoid over-compressing them to prevent permanent creases.
-
Store in a Cool, Dry Place: Store in a cool, dry place away from direct light.
VI. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
-
Q: Why are my yoga pants pilling?
A: Pilling can occur due to friction with rough surfaces (e.g., yoga mats, seats, or backpacks) or when washed with other abrasive garments. We recommend turning them inside out, washing them in a laundry bag, and avoiding contact with rough items. -
Q: Can I use fabric softener?
A: We do not recommend using fabric softener. Fabric softener can create a film on the fabric fibers, clogging the pores and affecting the moisture-wicking performance of activewear. -
Q: What if my activewear smells bad?
A: Wash your activewear immediately after your workout; do not let it sit for long. You can use specialized activewear deodorizers or add a small amount of white vinegar during washing to help eliminate odors. Ensure thorough rinsing to avoid detergent residue. -
Q: Can I iron my yoga clothes?
A: Most yoga and activewear do not require ironing. If you must iron, use a low heat setting and always place a cloth between the iron and the garment, especially avoiding printed or logo areas.
